Maia Sandu
President
MoldovaThe current President of the Republic of Moldova since December 2020, Ms. Sandu in 2019 also held the position of Prime Minister. In 2016, she founded the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and was repeatedly elected candidate for the united pro-European opposition. Nevertheless, she was often blocked by oligarchic interest groups; in 2015, they even made it impossible for her to be appointed prime minister. Between 2010 and 2015, she held the position of Minister of Education, worked for the Moldovan Ministry of Economy and as an adviser to the Director of the World Bank. She received her master's degree from the Kennedy School of Public Administration at Harvard University. Ms. Sandu is a member of the International Coalition for Democratic Renewal.
