Day 2 of the 24th Forum 2000 Conference

Today, we discussed the situation in Belarus after the manipulated presidential election, future of the foreign US policy and a new wave of civic activism.

Belarusian President-elect Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that Belarusians want new, fair and transparent elections. Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tomáš Petříček, emphasized that there is a need for a continual support to Belarusian civil society and that they need to know we stand behind them.

Garry Kasparov also mentioned it is necessary to get together and start to setting up the tech rules to prevent the authoritarians to shape the norms of the digital era. We then concluded with the discussion on the US elections where Charles Kupchan stated that four more years of Donald Trump would test the patience of the US allies.

Tomorrow we will welcome the economist Jeffrey Sachs, Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright or a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi.

Tomorrow’s live stream will be available on our FacebookYouTube and website. We start at 2 PM (CET)!
